This two year commencement into the art and industry of theatre prepares students for careers as professional actors, directors, and playwrights. It also provides a strong foundation for a variety of roles in theatre management.
This program is unique in Canada. Our instructors are working theatre professionals who bring relevant, hands-on experiences to the classroom stage. Through intense training, they help students develop the rigour that is required to create good stories along with the personal fortitude needed to sustain a life in the arts. They also introduce students to the Calgary theatre community through collaboration, production, and internships.
For Barrett Hileman, Director of Theatre Program, the most exciting aspect of the program’s design is the integration of faith and learning: “Our program is a unique combination of conservatory training and discipleship, challenging you to incorporate personal faith into art.”
From acting, to stage combat, to playwriting, to dance.
Rogues’ Master Class Program is a one-year full-time acting program. The program is intended to provide the student actor with an intense level of training under the highest caliber of professional instruction. Master Class consists of four primary streams of study: Scene Study, Meisner Technique, Acting for Film & Television, and Voice & Movement for the Actor.
Steeped in the New York Tradition of actor training, we believe that these four core streams provide a well-rounded foundation for those actors with professional aspirations towards a career in stage, television and film. While there are many worthwhile University and College-level training programs, Rogues provides a highly professional environment free from academic requirements. We believe this allows total immersion into the development of the actor’s craft and the authentic style of performance that is the hallmark of the New York Tradition of actor training.
