The Syringa Tree

Presented by Rosebud Theatre & School of the Arts
  • by Pamela Gien

A middle-aged woman longs to rest her back against the syringa tree in her childhood home. She recollects an exhilarating story of the abiding love between two families – one black, one white – and the two children that were born into their shared household in early 1960's South Africa. With humour and heart, the story follows their destines through four generations from early apartheid to the present-day free South Africa. An inspiring story of two families separated by racism but connected by love.

The Syringa Tree plays on Rosebud’s intimate blackbox Studio Stage located north of Rosebud Church. Check-in for all Studio Stage performances at the West-side of town behind the Church. Doors open 30 minutes prior to show-time and no admission will be allowed once the performance starts.

The Syringa Tree runs from July 7 to September 2, 2023 on Wednesdays - Saturdays @ 4:30pm!
A buffet option is available on Fridays & Saturdays.
