“The play is sweet without being mawkish, ameliorative, without being sanctimonious.” —NY Times
“…a perfectly poised and shaped miniature on the odd-couple theme.” —NY Post.
“DRIVING MISS DAISY is a total delight.” —NY Daily News.
Adapted into the multiple award-winning movie starring Morgan Freeman in 1989.
This Pulitzer Prize winning drama follows Daisy Werthan, a rich southern, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of seventy-two who has just demolished another car. Her son informs her that she now must rely on the services of a chauffeur. The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, unemployed black man, Hoke Coleburn.
What begins as a contentious and hostile pairing soon blossoms into a profound, life-altering friendship that transcends all the societal boundaries placed between them.
