Strike up the band for one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most beloved operettas! The Pirates of Penzance combines whimsy, light-hearted satire and piratical characters with stirring music, including the iconic “Major-General’s Song”. This is the play that cemented the comic-pirate theme in popular culture, a theme that has lasted through more than a century and spawned countless movies and novels. Jam-packed with sentimental, swashbuckling pirates, a completely dotty Major General and a bumbling bunch of hopeless but hilarious policemen, what could possibly go wrong? To add to the topsy-turvy nature of G&S, Morpheus will be flipping the genders of all your favourite characters.

Grease is a 1971 musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. Named after the 1950s United States working-class youth subculture known as greasers, the musical is set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School[1] (based on William Howard Taft School in Chicago, Illinois[2] and named after rock singer Bobby Rydell) and follows ten working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure, politics, personal core values, and love. THYT proudly presents the 3rd Annual THYT One-Act Festival! This one-act festival is directed, performed, designed, and stage managed by our participants (ages 9-17), under the guidance of industry professionals from around Alberta. Our directors begin the process in September 2021 of picking out their play, and then developing a vision, casting breakdown, and a unit breakdown. They are then matched up with designers, who begin the design process in November 2021. Actors are introduced to the process in January 2022, and we rehearse until our festival in June 2022. Our participants are joined by professionals from the Alberta theatre industry to learn the basics of directing, performing, stage management, and design.
