The Players de Novo, a talented gaggle of lawyers and judges, have now produced 16 annual plays to rave reviews We’ve raised over ONE MILLION DOLLARS for our local theatre community and the Victoria School Foundation. And for the first time ever we want some law students to join the fun! As a prospective cast member, you will be committing to three things: (1) to attend all rehearsals on Sunday afternoons and on one evening each week starting January 2024; (2) trying to sell tickets while mingling with lawyers and judges and (3) to have fun!

A political satire where politicians, promoters, and prospectors are plotting to tear up the streets for oil! Only a madwoman and her bohemian friends can stop them by staging a trial to determine their fate!
On FRIDAY, MAY 10, 2024, the Players de Novo will bring a whole new meaning to “courtroom drama” as we partner with Theatre Alberta to present the classic satire and WE WANT YOU IN OUR CAST!

What? YOU DON’T ACT?! Oh puhhhleeease… we’ve seen you confidently strut through courtrooms, hallways, and board rooms alike! You already have a genuine flair for the dramatic, and you definitely love a good audience, so consider this your opportunity to take your performing talents to a whole new stage!

As a prospective cast member, you will be committing to three things: (1) to attend all rehearsals on Sunday afternoons and on one evening each week starting January 2024; (2) to sell 25 tickets (@$100.00 each); and (3) to have fun!

Patricia Darbasie
Pat is a graduate of the University of Alberta’s BFA Acting and MFA Directing programs.
Pat’s directing credits include: Ribbon, a one -woman show about Amber Valley that she wrote and performed at Studio Theatre. The Syringa Tree, which was part of her Voice Pedagogy diploma at York University. Mesa for Atlas Theatre and Pat was the assistant director on The Color Purple the Citadel/ RMTC.
In the summer of 2021 Heaven reopened the Citadel’s Shoctor theatre. That fall Pat returned to Studio Theatre with God of Carnage and she ended the season at Shadow Theatre with Mountain Top. Last summer Pat made her debut at the Mayfield Dinner theatre with Sexy Laundry. And this spring the National Arts Centre in Ottawa hosted a remount of Heaven in their studio space.
Pat was happy to be back last year teaching/directing, as a sessional at the University of Alberta where she directed Cloud Nine and Concordia University College where the show was Chrysothemis.

Pamela Schmunk
Pam is a Drama Educator, Director, and Dramaturge. Retired from EPSB, Pam spent seven years teaching in Indonesia, China and Taiwan. She now splits her time between yoga, choir, teaching, travel, singing, and riding her motorcycle.
