To our Members:
Notes for September:
As the newest member of the Theatre Alberta team, I could not have picked a more exciting time to immerse myself in the Albertan theatre scene. With the busy summer festival season now drawn to a close, theatres across the province are launching their new seasons. You may have already received the 2014/2015 edition of our Playbill poster in your mailbox, which will give you an idea of what your favourite companies have in store in the coming months.
My introduction to Theatre Alberta continues in the coming weeks with some fun events!

Please note: Theatre Alberta's office and Library does not currently offer an unlimited supply of Cheetos. |
First up, I'm proud to be representing Theatre Alberta this weekend at Northern Light Theatre's Battle for the Limelight fundraiser. Our team, Theatre AL-BEAT-CHA!, is not really sure what to expect, but we're ready for anything! Instead of collecting pledges for our team, we're selling raffle tickets, so you can support us and have the chance to win a fantastic prize. And in just a few weeks it's Alberta Culture Days - what better way to begin the new season than by celebrating the arts!
In the meantime I'm busy recruiting volunteers for our upcoming casino. If you're free the weekend of Saturday November 1st and 2nd, there are still a few spots available. We're able to offer casino volunteers a credit towards their membership renewal, so please give me a shout if you can help.
I'm so looking forward to getting to know all of our wonderful members in the coming months - whether you're emailing with questions, stopping by the office, or out in the community.
Cheers,
Morgan Norwich

ALBERTA CULTURE DAYS 2014
Theatre Alberta will be teaming up with The Citadel Theatre, Rapid Fire Theatre, and other cultural organizations on Friday, September 26th to celebrate Alberta Culture Days at The Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
During the day, school groups will have the option to participate in the improvisation workshop Improv: Yes, Let's! Between 5:00–7:00 P.M. the workshop will be open to the public, so come and join us at the Jubilee in celebration of Alberta culture.
Participants will be taken on a fun and active whirlwind tour of the fundamentals of improvisation—in 30 minutes. Led by Foote Theatre School instructors and members of Rapid Fire Theatre, Improv: Yes, Let's will focus on the foundational improv skills of agreement and listening. A great way to challenge yourself and break out of your comfort zone!
Instructors: Matt Schuurman, Joleen Ballendine, and Andrew Ritchie.

SUPPORT THEATRE AL-BEAT-CHA! AT NLT'S BATTLE FOR THE LIMELIGHT
This Saturday, Theatre Alberta staff Morgan Norwich, Aaron Talbot, and Frazer Andrews, along with TA supporter Cheryl Andrews, will be participating in Northern Light Theatre's Battle for the Limelight Fundraiser as Team Theatre AL-BEAT-CHA! An Amazing Race style scavenger hunt set in Old Strathcona in Edmonton, we're competing against teams created by local theatre companies... and we need your support!
|
Theatre AL-BEAT-CHA! |
Each competing team is collecting pledges from the community with the funds going to support each team's theatre organization! However, as Theatre Alberta is currently running our 2014 Raffle as our major fundraising initiative, we thought we'd give our members some extra initiave to pledge for Theatre AL-BEAT-CHA!.
So instead of a pledge, purchase a raffle ticket (or three!) from Morgan, Frazer, or Aaron and help us take on our competitors! You can also purchase tickets from Theatre Alberta's Library or around Alberta from Theatre Alberta board members!
And, if you want to donate online visit www.theatrealberta.com/donate and let us know you're supporting Theatre AL-BEAT-CHA! at the Battle for the Limelight. (Please note that we can not sell raffle tickets online, but we can provide a tax receipt for donations of $20 or more.)

Thank you all for your continued support of Theatre Alberta!
