To our Members:
Notes for June:
 |
Our current Office Administrator, the lovely Maura Penn, will be leaving Theatre Alberta. Maura has been the first point of contact for Theatre Alberta members since 2012.
Maura is taking on a new challenge as Entertainment Logistics Supervisor with Fort Edmonton Park. We are thrilled for her, even though we will miss her terribly.
Maura's final day at Theatre Alberta is this Friday. She wanted to pass on the following message:
|
"Thank you to my colleagues, the Theatre Alberta Board, and our members - you have shown me the heart of the Albertan theatre community, and it is truly a marvellous thing!"
If you'd like to email Maura a note, you can do so at theatreab@theatrealberta.com - we will pass on any messages that come in after Friday.

“We do on stage things that are supposed to happen off. Which is a kind of integrity, if you look on every exit as being an entrance somewhere else.”

CENOVUS ENERGY CONTINUES ITS PARTNERSHIP TO SUPPORT ARTSTREK
In 2013, Theatre Alberta and Cenovus Energy embarked on an exciting partnership to expand Artstrek: A Summer Theatre School for Teens, in response to eight years of student waiting lists.
However, expanding Artstrek - Theatre Alberta's largest and most popular program - was no small undertaking. We needed some extra help.
Cenovus Energy is well known for its community investment programs to help make this province a better place to live. |
 |
The company is especially active supporting educational programs and creating opportunities for youth. When Cenovus learned of our ambitions to expand Artstrek, the company decided to become involved.
Understanding the complexity of program expansion was key, which is why Cenovus made a three-year commitment to Artstrek: an investment of $25,000 per year to support our work evolving the program. For Artstrek 2013, Fiddler on the Roof, 333 students attended. We made space for every single student who applied; not one languished on a waiting list.
Now in Year Two of our expansion, Artstrek 2014 will feature a Canadian play: the Governor General’s Award winning Unity (1918) by Kevin Kerr. Proof of the long-term investment our program enables, Kevin actually attended Artstrek back in the early 1980s. Thanks to Cenovus and our other program partners’ ongoing support, Artstrek has the capacity to welcome many more Kevin’s and other potential star artists than ever before.

Artstrek is bigger than ever - now let's fill it with students!
SPACE STILL AVAILABLE IN ARTSTREK AND DRAMAWORKS
Less than a month away from Artstrek and Dramaworks, and we still have space available in both programs.
If you are considering one of Theatre Alberta's training opportunities please REGISTER as soon as possible - prior to June 13th if you can. (This will help us properly plan and avoid any cancellations.)
If you know someone who might enjoy our programs, please REFER them right away.
Artstrek still has scholarship funding available! If you know a student who would love to come but is concerned about cost, please let them know that we can help!
