Notes for November

THEATRE ALBERTA CASINO
NOVEMBER 22 & 23
VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED!

Theatre Alberta's Casino will be at the Baccarat Casino — located in downtown Edmonton. We are still in need of a few volunteer champions to fill some shifts!

Thursday, November 22
6:30pm to 2:00am -- Chip Runner
9:30pm to 3:00am -- Count Room (2)
+ alternates for both day and evening shifts

TheatreAlberta

Friday, November 23
11:15am to 7:00pm -- Chip Runner (2)
6:15pm to 3:00am -- Banker
+ alternates for both day and evening shifts

Our casino is a vital source of funds for Theatre Alberta. We did the math: a single volunteer shift earns Theatre Alberta $2,015 (averaged over our past four casinos)!

If you live in Edmonton or in the surrounding area and you would like to help Theatre Alberta to receive vital funding, please contact our office. Call us at 780-422-8162 or email theatreab@theatrealberta.com to volunteer.

Thank you everyone who has already stepped up and agreed to help us out. All volunteers receive credit towards their Theatre Alberta membership!

Maura Penn
Theatre Alberta Administrator/ Executive Assistant

“My old manager of the Irish National Theatre said 'Don't worry about being a star, just worry about being a working actor. Just keep working.' I think that's really good advice."

~ Colm Meaney

THE THEATRE ALBERTA PLAYBILL PROFILED ON CKUA'S ARTS ALIVE

CKUA

Did you hear us on the radio?

CKUA personality Sarah Hoyles interviewed Executive Director Keri Mitchell and Communications and Marketing Coordinator Aaron Talbot about the Theatre Alberta Playbill.

Our interview was broadcast on Arts Alive on October 25th. You can listen to the interview by clicking here!

They also posted a cool little wrap-up story on their website along with some pictures.
Click here to read the wrap-up on CKUA.com.

THEATRE ALBERTA PLAYBILL WEB-APP POSTER NOW AVAILABLE

As we have been promoting for weeks now, the Theatre Alberta 2012-2013 Playbill is now available via smartphone or tablet.

We have created promotional posters (pictured right) celebrating our new Playbill web-app and we are in the process of distributing them to our member organizations for display in their venue lobbies.

The promotional posters are designed to both inform audiences about the Theatre Alberta Playbill web-app, as well as to remind them to please turn off their cellphones before the show begins. (It's our fun little way of embracing new technologies while reinforcing theatre audience decorum!)

Posters are 24" by 36" and printed on durable foam-core made to last. We are distributing to our member organizations in Calgary this week and in Edmonton next week.

Webapp_Poster

For our members outside of Edmonton and Calgary, please email Aaron Talbot at aaron@theatrealberta.com to make arrangements about how pick one or two up.

And, if any of our members did not receive a regular 2012-2013 Playbill poster, and would like to receive one, please let us know!

LIBRARY NEWS

Website update! We've updated the Library's home page to improve navigation and readability - and we made it fancy by adding scrolling images of our newest acquistions. Visit theatrealberta.com/library to see what's different, and email us with any comments or questions you have.

But that's not all! We've also beefed up our Hours and Directions webpage to provide our library patrons with step-by-step instructions on how to find and access our library in Edmonton - including this handy video that shows you where exactly we are inside the Percy Page Centre.

Finally - we've also added a new Pathfinder to our online Library resources. Our pathfinders are “how-to guides” intended to help you find resources on a particular subject. Our newest Pathfinder focuses on Award Winners: a collection of websites listing awards given annually to plays and playwrights in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Click here to view.

Please note Theatre Alberta's Library will be closed November 10-12 for Remembrance Day. The Drop Box will be unavailable.

(Instead, come on in any other Monday as late as 8 p.m. - part of our new Library schedule!)
