The stage is not merely the meeting place of all the arts, but is also the return of art to life.

THEATRE ALBERTA - ALBERTA'S NEWEST REGISTERED CHARITY
The Board and Staff of Theatre Alberta are thrilled to announce our latest achievement – the addition of a Charitable Registration Number to your Theatre Alberta receipt! Theatre Alberta officially became a registered Canadian Charity this August, and can now issue Charitable Tax Receipts for your donations. This special designation comes at an especially opportune time, given the impact of recent cuts to the Alberta Foundation for the Arts’ budget, which resulted in significantly decreased operating funding for arts organizations across the province. Your support now means more than ever, and we can now honour it by providing you a break on your taxes!

We call upon our membership and community supporters to help us celebrate this achievement. Click here for more information and to donate.

Librarian’s Pick

The library will be open Saturdays beginning September 11, 2010. The library hours are 10am to 3pm, Monday to Saturday.

ALBERTA ARTS DAYS

SEPTEMBER 17 - 19, 2010 Something for everyone!

Alberta Arts Days are quickly approaching, which means it’s time to start thinking about how you’d like to be involved! Last year, thousands of Albertans discovered, experienced and celebrated our vibrant arts and culture landscape. Hundreds of community groups and organizations partnered to offer 571 events in 116 communities.

Alberta Arts Days have a starring role for absolutely everyone: artists, art organizations, community groups, municipalities, libraries, schools and businesses.

The success of Alberta Arts Days has helped spur the creation of National Culture Days – a pan-Canadian movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the cultural life of their communities.

Visit the Culture and Community Sprit website to learn about Alberta Arts Days events in your community.

ADDITION TO ALBERTA SCHOOL TOURS

Alberta Opera Musical Theatre for Young People is offering two productions that will travel to your school. These productions are in addition to the companies offering productions that will be touring to schools, both regionally and province-wide, that are currently listed on the Theatre Alberta Playbill.

Touring province-wide Oct 10 - Dec 10, Hansel & Gretel

Touring province-wide Jan 6 - June 17, Jack and the Beanstalk
