You can help us make Artstrek 2024 an unforgettable experience for theatre-loving teens by making a donation through the Shaw Birdies for Kids and Canada Helps.

Funds raised through the Birdies for Kids and Canada Helps program supports Artstrek 2024, which makes the cost of the program accessible for many students that require financial support!

With 32 days remaining until our annual return to Red Deer Polytechnic, we are overflowing with excitement to welcome the Artstrek family back to explore Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice’s The Addams Family

Every year we reach out to our community—our members, our friends, our Artstrek alumni and their families, anyone and everyone who can support these young Albertans’ dreams—to participate in a grassroots campaign to raise funds for our Artstrek Scholarship program. Together we offset Artstrek tuition fees for students in financial need.

We need your help to reach our goal of $10,000!

In 2024:

  • 53 students have requested financial support
  • 30% of the class so far
  • 100% of your donation goes to student fees

Any amount you give goes a long way to helping these teens find their place in the Artstrek family.

Artstrek isn’t just a camp or a set of classes; it’s an experience, an escape from a grim reality into something much more positive. It’s an amazing place to be, and I’m not missing out on the experience this year either. If there is space for me I will fill it in a heartbeat.

– Artstrek Student

I am a student who has had to support myself since the age of fifteen and it has made a hard impact on my life trying to support myself, find a place to live and simultaneously complete school and theatre at the same time… This program is important to me, and I am ready and willing to commit and pay whatever may be offered back in kindness, determination, and hardwork.

We know that Albertans stand strong together to pool resources for all of our friends and neighbours in need. The families of our Artstrek students need our help too, so we can provide meaningful and transformative theatre education to their young people.

Let’s work together and make this a life changing summer for these teens!

Help us amplify this campaign and thank you for your support. #TheArtstrekFamilyReunion!

About Artstrek 2024

Artstrek is a summer theatre school for teens held at Red Deer Polytechnic that provides professional learning with theatre artists and educators in a collaborative environment. Artstrek is more than 60 years old and has 10,000+ alumni working across Alberta, Canada, and the world. Artstrek students explore the creative process through five daily classes that include the study of acting, movement, voice, devising, design, directing, and dramaturgy.

All of these classes take inspiration from a single play of study—this year’s is a musical, Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice’s The Addams Family! Students become a part of the Artstrek community, and create friendships that will last a lifetime.
