Auditions (Edmonton): From Cradle to Stage Festival – Walterdale Theatre

Edmonton’s foremost community theatre is looking for readers/performers for its annual new works festival, From Cradle to Stage. Walterdale Theatre Associates will present nine new scripts from nine local playwrights, which run May 19-24, 2026.

The playwrights have been working hard with dramaturgs to tighten up their scripts and now is time for them to see the light of day, in front of generous Edmontonian theatregoers…and we NEED YOU.

The Festival
From Cradle to Stage is a new works, staged reading festival that allows playwrights to hear their works read in front of an audience. Directors help curate that process and performers help bring the words to life for the playwright.

Directors will cast based on audition videos online. Most rehearsals will take place on Zoom until May, where they will move into the theatre.

There will be 1 tech rehearsal, plus 2 performance evenings during the run of the festival: May 19-24.

We are looking for readers of any age, ethnicity, and gender identification to read and perform our scripts.

Each evening (and one matinee) will have three scripts, directed by one director, performed, but each script will have its own cast. This means there are plenty of opportunities to perform on Walterdale’s stage!

How to Submit
Please submit a 1-2 minute video of you reading something. Anything. Literally anything, it could be LEGO instructions. We just want to get a sense of your ability to read and sound. Our only request is that the lighting and sound are good. Introduce yourself with the title of your piece and then proceed reading.

Fill out the Google Form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1pvvTbYUW5ugIyugJwAyQDlQEs1CAGKgJX9EaQhOCDNQ/viewform?edit_requested=true), and list any scheduling conflicts you may have.

The deadline to audition is March 29th, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
