The latter half of the contract will be spent preparing an interactive Mythic Quest performance for children, which will tour t0 parks around Edmonton.

Audition Date: May 25, 2024: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Contract Start Date: June 17, 2024
Term: 6 weeks
Compensation: $20/hour, 35 hours per week*

*Working hours will be full-time weekdays during the day, with possible additional evening or weekend requirements to be communicated with at least two weeks notice. About the Role
Ensemble members will participate as actors in The Thousand Faces Festival’s New Mythic Works Series, where they will work on 4-6 new or unproduced 10-20 minute plays by Edmonton-Area Playwrights. Actors will read and give feedback in script development workshops, and then rehearse workshop productions of the plays.

Performances of the New Mythic Works Series will be presented at the 2024 Thousand Faces Festival, which runs July 12-14 at the Alberta Avenue Community Centre. Successful applicants will be required to be fully available for that weekend, and should expect to be working a Tuesday – Saturday schedule during the month of July.

Following the conclusion of the New Mythic Works Series, actors will dedicate the remaining two weeks of their contract to rehearsing an interactive Mythic Quest show for children, and will subsequently tour that performance to parks around Edmonton.

For the past 14 years, The Thousand Faces Festival has celebrated the myths and stories at the roots of Edmonton’s many cultures through theatre, music, dance, and other artistic disciplines. We are committed to ensuring that our staff, crew, and artistic teams also reflect the diversity we see on our stages. We strongly encourage submissions from people of all backgrounds and look forward to continuing our tradition of discovering what connects us all through art. As the Thousand Faces Festival Association supports the Canada Summer Jobs program’s national priority to create opportunities for youth who are underrepresented in the labour market, we are actively encouraging applications from BIPOC and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals.
