Apprentice Dramaturg – Call for Applications
Banff Playwrights Lab 2024
During its 50th edition in 2023, the Playwrights Lab introduced an Apprentice Dramaturg position as part of our commitment to training the next generation of dramaturgs and artistic leaders. We’re seeking an early career dramaturg who wishes to advance their knowledge of and experience in theatrical dramaturgy and new play development.
The successful applicant will attend the 2024 Lab for two weeks, and receive accommodation, full meal plan, travel allowance and a fee of $2000. During the Lab they will be mentored by faculty members Brian Quirt, Jenna Rodgers and Kodie Rollan; invited to observe and participate in dramaturgy sessions and readings; and be included in faculty meetings prior to and during the Lab. They will be expected to provide administrative support to the Associate Dramaturg during the Lab residency period.
We’re seeking a self-motivated candidate who is committed to advancing their dramaturgical practice, is curious about designing processes for new works, eager to expand their skills in working with playwrights and creators, and willing to work in an unstructured, collaborative environment during the Lab.
