September is Month of the Artist in Alberta. Alberta is the first and remains the only province in Canada to dedicate a month to artists. It is an annual celebration of artists, and the value they bring to the province, both socially and economically.

As Minister Tanya Fir remarks: 

“This month, we celebrate artists and how their work enriches our lives. Art entertains us and evokes emotions we share with others. Art moves and inspires us, shedding light on new perspectives and giving us a new understanding of the world we live in. Art brings communities together by creating connections over shared experiences. Artists are important contributors to our economy. They attract visitors through their performances and art shows, and they create jobs for technicians and roles for other businesses. 
Join me in celebrating the Month of the Artist by supporting local artists at Alberta Culture Days events across the province and in your community. My best wishes to all artists in Alberta, and happy Month of the Artist.
