Auditions (Calgary): GHOULS’ NIGHT OUT – Heritage Park

The Heritage Park Players will be presenting various interactions and plays around Heritage Park for its 2023 Ghouls’ Night Out Halloween event. Ghouls’ Night Out is a volunteer performance contract. (Note: We will not be looking to cast people in both Halloween and Christmas.)

THE GAME OF “LOVE AFTER LIFE”
“Will Charles Bones find love after he finds out he’s dead?”

CHARACTERS:
• CHARLES “CHARLIE HORSE” BONES: Was about to marry the love of his life, awakens in the afterlife sad and alone
• VAMPIRA – Undead, sultry. Vampire. Singer. Bachelorette #1
• “LONG LEGS” LOUISE – Soft-spoken, quick witted. Witch. Dancer. Bachelorette #2
• THE CORPSE BRIDE – aka Emily, kind, sweet. Corpse. Pianist & possibly singer. Bachelorette #3
• ADDITIONAL ENSEMBLE CAST – various vocalists, backup dancers, game show stage manager, prop handlers etc.

STILL GHOSTBUSTING
“The Ghostbusters are trying to capture specters at Heritage Park, but things go awry when the Lady in White appears.”

• PAT – Ghostbuster, the funny one
• EVIE – Ghostbuster, the smart one
• DANI – Pat’s younger cousin
• LADY – the Lady In White ghost of Heritage Park

THE MONSTERS’ RETIREMENT HOME
“Undead Geriatric Monsters re-live their glory days haunting and stay limbered up with Prune juice and Callisthenics”

Play Run Time: 10 minutes
Improvised Activity: Inside the Famous Five Interpretive Centre
CHARACTERS:
• JUNO – Welcomes guests and handles all the Monster paperwork for admitting. A Celia Mae type Character from Monsters Inc.
• COUSIN IT – Patient at the Monsters Retirement Home.
• WEDNESDAY ADDAMS – A progressive Nurse wanting to push the boundaries of the patients.
• RETIRED MONSTERS – A various array of rited monsters that are in need of seclusion, rest, and medical assistance.

JACK SPARROW SWORD FIGHT IN THE LAND OF TORTUGA

Performance: In the Midway (transformed into the Land of Tortuga)
CHARACTERS:
• ANNE BONNIE: A witty, fun loving and deadly pirate.
• SITH LORD MURKRIM: Defeated by Jack he has lost his powers and is weak, but also trying to figure out how to get his revenge on Jack.
• THE MUMMY: A very powerful Ancient Sith Lord. Cannot stand Jack’s wit, nor murkrim’s weakness.

MEET & GREET CHARACTERS
Characters to meet kids, talk and take photos with them.

CHARACTERS:
• AUDRY THE PLANT from “The Little Shop Of Horrors”
• MAD HATTER for Alice and Wonderland Tea Party
• ALICE from Alice in Wonderland Tea Party
• TAVERN PIRATE in the Land of Tortuga
• OFFICER in the Land of Tortuga

REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE/AUDITION INFO REHEARSALS:
• Rehearsals will begin in early October and will continue until the first performance on Thursday, October 26.
• For Scripted Shows: There will be 1-2 rehearsals a week and actors will only be called as needed.
• Meet & Greet Characters will have a couple of short rehearsals before the event.

REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals will consist of evenings (6pm-10pm) and weekends (various times between 10am-10pm) unless an entire cast has daytime availability.
Rehearsals will be held at Heritage Park.

TECH/DRESS/PREVIEWS:
• Preview Performance – Tuesday October 24th

PERFORMANCE DATES:
• Thursday October 26 (7pm-10pm)
• Friday October 27 (5pm-9pm)
• Saturday October 28 (5pm-9pm)
• Sunday October 29 (3pm to 7pm)
Persons submitting must be available for all performance dates. No exception.

AUDITION DATES:
• Thursday, Sept 7 (1pm-10pm)
• Saturday, Sept 9 (6:30pm-10pm)
• Sunday, Sept 10 (6:30pm-10pm)
Auditions will be held at Heritage Park.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Applicants need not have any formal training. We encourage all who’d like to participate to apply.
• Applicants must be 15 years or older
• Prepare given sides (to be sent upon audition confirmation.)

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: Tuesday, September 5, 2023 @ 5pm.

Only those selected to audition will be contacted with an audition time. Heritage Park is committed to diverse, inclusive casting. Ghouls’ Night Out is a volunteer performance contract and actors will be considered volunteers of Heritage Park. Equity members will not be seen at these auditions. Thank you for your understanding.
