Classes (Edmonton): Fall Theatre Classes (55+) – GeriActors Theatre

Register for GeriActors’ fall theatre classes (55+). Our classes are a great way to get creative, meet new people, share stories, and laugh!

This fall we are offering classes in acting, improv and storytelling to get those creative juices flowing. All our classes are facilitated by local theatre artists and educators ready to share their theatre know-how. Whether you have a history in the theatre, have always dreamt of performing, or just want to try something new, this is the perfect place to start.

Acting: From the Script to the Stage
Saturdays, 1-3pm | Oct 14, 21, 28, Nov 4, 18, 25, Dec 2, 9 (no class on Nov 11)
Hosted at the Westend Seniors Activity Centre (9629 176 Street)
Diving into scripted scenes and monologues, participants will learn how to explore a script, develop unique characters and collaborate with their fellow actors. On the last day, participants will have the opportunity to share what they’ve been working on during an acting showcase for family and friends. Jump in and have fun on the stage! Price: $225.00

Improv: Creativity Unleashed
Fridays, 1-2:30pm | Oct 20, 27, Nov 3, 10, 17, 24, Dec 1, 8
Hosted at the St. Paul’s United Church (11526 76 Avenue)
Improv is all about spontaneity, collaboration and, most importantly, FUN! Learn how to create characters and make up stories on the spot. Starting with the basics, students will develop a strong foundation in improvisation. On the last day, participants will have the opportunity to share what they’ve learned during an improv showcase for family and friends. “No scripts and no plans – all you need is YOU!” Price: $175.00

Performance Storytelling
Wednesdays, 1-2:30pm | Nov 8, 15, 22, 29
Hosted at the St. Paul’s United Church (11526 76 Avenue)
We all have stories to tell – some true and some completely made up. Participants will learn how to take their stories from the telling to the stage, developing a short performance complete with narration and characters. Through theatre games, a bit of improv, laughter and a whole lot of fun participants will share stories and watch them come alive! Price: $90.00
