Bert Church LIVE Theatre seeks Theatre Company to Produce: “Bumbles’ Big Christmas Adventure” by Ingrid Hansen Smythe

The Bert Church Theatre seeks to engage professional theatre artists with experience in producing theatre for young audiences as the fourth show of our upcoming 2023-2024 season “Bumbles’ Big Christmas Adventure” by Ingrid Hansen Smythe.

The expectation is that this theatre company will design, rehearse and perform the production for a flat fee of $2, 000 per performance with a minimum of 5 performances but options exist for additional performances at the same rate. The Bert Church Theatre will purchase the rights for the production, supply the performance venue, and staff the front of house and a lighting and sound technician.

Contract Dates are as follows: August 04 – Aug 18 – Applications and Selection

September 

  • 1 Production Meeting with BCT Team

December 

  • 1 Preview run through with notes from BCT Team
  • Dec 17 & 18 Load in &  Cue to Cue
  • Dec 19 & 20 Tech Run & Dress Rehearsal (optional performance addition)
  • Dec 21 – 24 – 5 Performances (with options for additional performances)


Candidates local to Airdrie, Calgary, and immediate surrounding communities are encouraged to apply. Bert Church LIVE Theatre’s Presented Series represents the community we serve and introduces our patrons to new viewpoints, ideas, music and stories through the performing arts. Through the lens of the City of Airdrie Social Policy (POLICY NO. COM-63-C) and the 35//50 Initiative, which strives to take action toward a more equitable, diverse and inclusive future in the performing arts, we seek to annually present performances and engage artists that reflect the diversity of our community.

The successful Theatre Company will be paid under contract for their work. It is the responsibility of the company to assign, production budgets and individual artist wages.
