Auditions (Edmonton): Scoobie Doosical – Dammitammy Productions

Dammitammy Productions is accepting submissions for their production of Scoobie Doosical written by Rebecca Merkley as part of the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival.

In person auditions will be held in Edmonton, AB. If you are selected for an audition but are unable to attend the in-person auditions, you may be invited to submit a self-tape.

Audition Date and Location: June 3rd in Edmonton, AB. Exact location and time will be emailed to those invited to audition.

Important Dates:

  • Music and Choreography Rehearsals to start: Tuesday, July 18, 2023
  • Festival start date is Thursday, August 17, 2023
  • Closing is Sunday, August 27, 2023
  • Performers will perform in a minimum of six performances over the course of the festival and will do no more than one show per day.

Synopsis of the show:
“Shaggy” and his slobbery sidekick “Scoob” answer a mansion-sitting want ad (placed by the far right capitalist, “Professor Gigglepuffs”). Meanwhile: “Daphne” and “Velma ” learn that a local man who just escaped from a local prison, is heading straight for the woods! Jinkies! They set out on a rescue mission, baby! The entire gang ends up lost in the forest; left to face their fears, not to mention the local wildlife! You know, coyotes and cougars and incels? (Oh my!) Will they make it out alive? Scooby Doosical is a heartwarming musical-spoof about loyalty, love, loss and ZOINKS!

From the creator of the Sterling nominated Fringe hits: Rivercity the Musical, The Unsyncables, 5 South, and the award winning, Jesus Teaches Us Things.

Roles:

  • Shaggy: An aspiring stand-up comedian. Best friends with Scooby. A bit of a dummy.
    (any gender expression)
    Mezzo A3 to A5
    Or
    Tenor G2 to A4
  • Velma/Professor Gigglepuffs
    Velma: Often forgotten. Lonely yet loyal. Craving adventure.
    Professor Gigglepuffs: A deliciously- Eviiiil Professor who loves ‘The Spice Girls. Constantly plotting his revenge.
    Tenor B2 to C4
    Or
    Soprano A3 to C6
  • Daphne/Bubbles
    (any gender expression)
    Daphne: A bit of a dunce. Looking for love in inopportune places. Bubbles: a cat. Wants to escape his current living situation.
    Alto/Mezzo F3 to A5

*** Please note the role of Scoobie has already been cast.

All of the above roles must have strong singing and movement skills.

If selected to audition, artists will be asked to prepare sides from the script and a vocal section of music from the show. Artists will also be asked to prepare 8 bars of irreverent dancing to a song of their choice. Keeping in rhythm, but silly, over the top, ridiculous…essentially, bad.
