PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION
THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL & MR HYDE immerses you in a play full of chilling twists and turns in which love, betrayal and murder lurk on London’s foggy streets. Can Dr. Henry Jekyll face his demons or does the ruthless Edward Hyde take him to the dark side? A talented cast of four actors, playing multiple roles, takes you on a thrilling journey in this adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s gothic horror.

ROLE TO BE CAST

  • Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde male age 20 – 40
    Henry Jekyll a well-off doctor and scientist, whose desperate search for knowledge transforms him into the ruthless and sanguinary Edward Hyde.
  • Gabriel Utterson and others male age 30 – 50
    Jekyll’s lawyer; an undeviating and respected man; passionately inquisitive regarding the connection between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Plays additional small roles throughout the show.
  • Eleanor Lanyon and others female age 20 – 30
    Hastings Lanyon’s wife; A classical singer and strong-willed empowered woman who takes a fervent interest in Henry Jekyll and his experiments. Plays additional small roles throughout the show. Actors who are invited to audition for this role will be asked to prepare a song. Details will be provided later in the selection process.
  • Hastings Laynon and others male age 20 – 40
    Jekyll’s dear friend; kind, amicable and highly ethical. He strongly opposes Henry’s approach to scientific experimentation. Plays additional small roles throughout the show.

*Experience with movement/physical theatre and the ability to play an instrument are assets for all roles in this production

AUDITION DATES
April 17th & April 18th, 2023

CASTING PROCESS
Selected candidates will be provided with scenes to work from during the auditions.

Vertigo Theatre has a responsibility to create work spaces where people are comfortable in a creation process, and can be themselves in every capacity. We would like to request a submission package consisting of:

  • headshot
  • resume

*We will not be collecting hard copies of headshots and resumes at the audition. The audition panel will receive them all electronically.
