Arts Administration Contract Position, Rising Sun Theatre
Rising Sun Theatre is a small Edmonton not-for-profit arts organization dedicated to providing opportunities for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities to create and perform, with the facilitation of theatre professionals, their own original plays for the public. We believe in the power of the arts to break down social barriers and promote full inclusion of the differently-abled in the broader community. We are now in our 19th year of creating joy and connection for audiences and company members.
We are currently offering a short-term contract for an arts administrator to work with and assist the producer on a part-time basis to support the company during a fundraising campaign, a promotional/publicity campaign and a play production. The position would start April 3 and end June 16 and involve an average of 15-20 hours a week, with a fuller week just prior to, during and shortly after the June 3 and 4 performances.
The ideal candidate will have some administration experience or training, some knowledge of theatre and event promotion and an interest in working with adults with developmental disabilities. They will be an organized and creative person with strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. They should be computer-literate and able to work from home, attend a few short in-person rehearsals and performances in Edmonton and work closely with a producer, and, at times, the creative team through regular communication.
Fee for the contract will be dependent upon experience.
This contract position could eventually evolve to a part-time general manager position in future seasons.
