Forte Musical Theatre is casting the following roles for a production of Tick, Tick… Boom!

Tick, Tick… Boom! is an autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson and tells the story of a composer and the sacrifices he must make to achieve success in musical theatre.

Forte Musical Theatre is committed to reflecting the diversity of our community.   • Actor 1: playing Jonathan – Pop-rock Bari-tenor A2 – A4. A struggling composer on the brink of his 30th birthday; Strong narrator. A music geek with awkward tendencies; self reflective. Michael’s roommate and Susan’s boyfriend; ability to play piano is a strong asset. Please be prepared to demonstrate your ability as a pianist to be considered for this role.
  • Actor 2: playing Susan – Strong belt Ab3 to D5; Jonathan’s girlfriend; uninhibited and dynamic; nurturing, loving and supportive but growing increasingly frustrated with Jonathan’s pre-occupation and lack of commitment. Same actor plays additional character roles requiring terrific comic timing.
  • Actor 3: playing Michael – Warm Bari-tenor Gb2 – Gb4. A former actor-turned-market research executive. He is Jon’s roommate and best friend. Same actor plays additional character roles requiring excellent comic timing.

Those chosen for auditions will be asked to prepare material from the show and a musical theatre song of your choice. An accompanist will be provided or you may bring your own accompanist or recorded accompaniment.

Auditions will be held during the afternoon of Wednesday, January 19th in Calgary.

Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, February 7th and the production runs from February 28th to March 12th.
