To book a 20 minute appointment – Provide a two hour availability between 12 – 5, Dec. 11, 2022
Director will respond with a specific 20 minute window for Actors’ Audition time

Audition Format:
Actor will present a 3 – 5 minute Comedic Monologue
Director will offer directorial suggestions about the presentation to see how the Actor can adapt and alter performance based off of suggestions.

Call Back Format:
All Actors, who have been requested to attend the call back, will be required to be at the call backs from 6:00 – 9:00 PM
Actors will be paired with other Actors to read selected scenes from the play

Play Synopsis:
The year is 1938 and newly laid-off perfumier Mary Hayes is trying to break into the male dominated world of newspaper journalism. Editor-in-Chief Bosco Godfrey sets a competition between his egotistical star reporter Jeff Kincaid and plucky Mary, assigning them to cover a society wedding. The best storywriter gets the job.

Roles to Cast:
Two Females & Two Males

  • Female #1
    Mary Hayes – mid 20s, “Plucky”, smart, determined

 

  • Female #2
    Someone who can play 30 – 50 years old
    Will be playing 3 different roles
    Jonesy – wise-cracking Secretary
    Delores – Newspaper Owner
    Gloria – The Seductress

 

  • Male #1
    Jeff KIncaid – late 20s to mid 30s – egotistical, self assured

 

  • Male #2
    Someone who can play mid 20s – mid 50s
    Will be playing 4 different roles
    Bosco – Gruff Newspaper Editor
    Peter – The Bon Vivant Fiance
    Chauncey – The Dim-witted Son
    Reginald – The Acerbic Butler

Rehearsal Schedule:
Note: Most rehearsals at Cochrane Ranchehouse Theatre – Some rehearsals will be at another location in Cochrane.

First Read / Meeting
