Omismimawiw (The eldest sister – Cree) is a developing project based around connecting to indigenous identity. It expresses issues disconnected indigenous youths face both internally and externally, specifically calling attention to the pains of applying for status in a system set up against them. Based on a true story about the playwright meeting their sibling on the Edmonton LRT.
I strongly encourage submissions from individuals of all communities and intersectionalities regardless of gender, age, race, sexual orientation, or ability. I recognize that the identity of each person is fundamentally plural, multidimensional, changing, and evolving, and welcome all to apply.
