Jobs (Red Deer): Staged Reading Director – Red Deer Players

Red Deer Players is looking for a director for their next instalment of their Breaking Cover series of staged readings, The Great Race by Hebert Poll Gutierrez, a brand new children’s play.

Taking inspiration from his Afro-Cuban heritage, the play follows Awa the Duck, Akiko the Rooster, Akeke the Chick, and a number of other colorful characters as they prepare for the titular Great Race. The staged reading takes place January 22nd at 12:30pm, at the Snell Auditorium in Red Deer, Alberta. In preparation for the reading, a minimum of 2 rehearsals will take place, as arranged by the director. The director will also be in charge of mediating the public discussion after the reading, supporting the playwright in asking and answering questions.

Interested parties should contact carsonrafuse1234@gmail.com to get access to the script. Experience in directing is not required, and preference will be given to members of the Afro-Cuban community, or otherwise involved in Afro-Cuban culture. Deadline to express interest is Nov. 30th.
