Alberta Playwrights’ Network is proud to be partnering with YYC Fringe to announce CHALK TALK!
APN is looking for 6 intrepid playwrights to join us for a few hours on July 30th or 31st, or August 6th to write transitory plays. Using the sidewalk chalk provided, playwrights will be encouraged to work together or alone to write short plays and scenes on the pavement. These new plays will last as long as the weather allows. You can write anything that you want, and you’ll have the chance to interact with readers in real time. We’ll be passing the hat, selling 50/50 tickets and raising some funds and our profile. Writers will have a couple of hours to casually write, hang out, and get creative!
We are planning this for an in person gathering to take place around the Festival Hall in Calgary. The participants would be asked to gather outside this space to write, share, and hang out. This will be a volunteered event. Participants will be fed, watered, and supported as they write.
To submit please email Trevor Rueger at trevor@albertaplaywrights.com with a brief letter introducing us to yourself and work.
Deadline to submit – July 24, 2022
