Job (Edmonton): Artistic Teachers – Citadel Theatre

The Citadel Theatre’s Education & Outreach department is seeking submissions from Edmonton-based teaching artists to teach in our many programs!

OUR PROGRAMS

The Foote Theatre School (FTS)
The Foote Theatre School (FTS) provides year-round classes for all ages and experience levels in Acting, Musical Theatre, Playwriting, Improvisation, and so much more! Over 1,000 students annually are taught by our faculty of local theatre professionals. We also provide a specialized classes in our I Can Pretend! series for children with autism, and introductory theatre classes for little ones! Classes run on weekday evenings and weekends from September to June, and our week-long summer camps run in July and August.

Young Companies
The Young Companies are advanced training and mentorship programs for aspiring theatre artists between the ages of 16-21. These theatre artists are dedicated to furthering their craft, and are serious about pursuing post-secondary education and a career in theatre.

Young Acting & Musical Companies: Instructors teach core classes in Acting, Movement, Voice and Auditioning from September-December, guest instructors teach specialized workshops in January, and a team of local professionals direct, choreograph, music direct and design a final production which rehearses from February-May, culminating in a run at the Rice Theatre.

Young Playwriting Company: A professional playwright guides our cohort of playwright through a season of classes, culminating in staged readings of the students’ new works in May. Throughout the year, guest playwrights also come in for guest workshops to share their personal approach to playwriting.

Young Production Company: Students apply to this company with a certain discipline in mind (be it directing, design, stage management, technical theatre, etc.) and take workshops throughout the season, while also shadowing Citadel technicians on select mainstage shows. The students then assume an assistant role on the Young Acting & Musical Company productions.

Students Club
Students Club offers a unique glimpse into the world of professional theatre to a wide range of local junior and senior high school students. Prior to select performances of each of our main stage shows, students are invited to participate in a highly engaging, interactive workshop with a local theatre artist. Following the performance, students stay for an informative talkback with members of the production’s cast and crew. Each mainstage production features a new workshop with a guest artist, and the pre- and post-show events are hosted by the season’s Students Club Facilitator.

WE ARE SEEKING…
…local artists who are interested in teaching in any of our programs! Artists of all instructional experiences are welcome to submit.
