The Thousand Faces Festival is seeking directors with a passion for new play development to direct workshops and workshop productions of plays chosen for our New Mythic Works Series.

Rehearsal Start Date: May 30th, 2022
Time Commitment: Approximately 120 hours, over 6 weeks (schedule to be determined with Stage Management)
Presentation of New Mythic Works: Early July TBA
Compensation: $3000**
*Working hours will be full time weekdays during the day, with possible additional evening or weekend requirements to be communicated in writing with at least two weeks notice.
**Depending on the availability of directors submitting, we may end up hiring two directors who will split the amount of work. In this case, the time commitment and fee is flexible and may be changed. Because this role is funded through the Edmonton Community Foundation, at this time we are only accepting applications from Edmonton and area directors.
New Mythic Works Series
The Thousand Faces Festival is producing their first ever New Mythic Works Series. Edmonton area playwrights have submitted new and/or unproduced 10-20 minute plays based in mythology. 4-6 plays will be selected by a blind jury, and then workshopped and rehearsed by our Ensemble of four actors.
The Role
Directors will facilitate discussion during workshops with pre-selected Ensemble members, a dramaturg, and selected playwrights. The focus of these workshops will be on giving the playwright an opportunity to hear their work aloud and receive feedback, with options to then revise their script. Directors will then focus on directing a staged reading/workshop production of the selected scripts, to be performed publicly.
