The Thousand Faces Festival is seeking performers 30 years of age and under to join the 2022 Thousand Faces Ensemble in developing new plays for our New Mythic Works Series.

Contract Start Date: May 30th, 2022
Presentation of New Mythic Works: Early-Mid July TBA
Projected Contract End Date: July 17th, 2022*
Compensation: $19/hour, 32 hours per week, Monday-Friday**
* Contract may be extended by one week, and will be confirmed prior to the Start Date
** Working hours will be full time weekdays during the day, with possible additional evening or weekend requirements to be communicated in writing with at least two weeks’ notice.
New Mythic Works Series
Ensemble members will participate as actors in The Thousand Faces Fesival’s New Mythic Works Series, on 4-6 new or unproduced 10-20 minute plays by Edmonton-Area Playwrights. Actors will read and give feedback in script development workshops, and then perform in staged reading/workshop productions of these works. This is a great opportunity for actors to gain insight into the process of new play development.
The Role
The Thousand Faces Festival is seeking four (4) emerging artists to join its growing Thousand Faces Ensemble. The ensemble’s primary focus will be on workshopping and rehearsing the short new mythic works throughout June in preparation for workshop performances in early July.
This will not, however, take up the entire length of the contract. Any time not dedicated to the New Mythic Works Series, actors will spend workshopping other mythic plays in development, further rehearsing a play from the series, and/or devising a mythically based creation of their own. Regardless, the focus of the Ensemble during this contract will be on the development of new work. Some of the shape of that will be determined by current unknowns, including the interests and aptitudes of the as yet undetermined ensemble’s composition. Self-starting, mythically inclined and/or curious applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.
For the past 10 years, The Thousand Faces Festival has celebrated the myths and stories at the roots of Edmonton’s many cultures through theatre, music, dance, and other artistic disciplines. All positions will be funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. All applicants must be 15-30 years old at the beginning of the contract, and either Canadian Citizens, permanent residents, or refugees.
The Submission
We will be conducting auditions and interviews from 10 am -1pm on May 12th and 13th at the Alberta Avenue Community League (9210 118 Ave. NW).
