ABOUT THE MUSICAL
An original satire of Broadway’s “best loved” feline musical, this time with even less plot, tighter leotards and one throbbing mystical sword! ~ThunderCATS HO!!~
The plot? The Thunderians, fleeing the destruction of their home planet, have landed on planet Thundera and await the ghost of their fallen leader Jaga The Wise to find out which ThunderCAT character will return to the ThunderCAT Lair. Through obscene hip thrusting and way too much dancing they learn what it really means to be a Thunder CAT.
ThunderCATS is a parody of CATS The Musical using the characters of the 80’s Cartoon Thundercats. It follows the same scene structure and narrative of CATS The Musical. We suggest watching CATS the musical first before attempting to understand how stupidly pointless this show is. The show is fully sung, so although there is a loose narrative it is primarily made up of character songs and there is almost no dialogue aside from a few moments of direct address.
ABOUT GRINDSTONE THEATRE
Grindstone is an improv and musical theatre based company founded in 2011. Grindstone wrote and produced the disturbingly popular Jason Kenney’s Hot Boy Summer The Musical. Other productions include the award-winning improvised musical The 11 O’clock Number, Urinetown The Musical, The Adventures of Chucky and Reggie, Here Lies Henry, The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged, HONK! The Ugly Duckling Musical, and Shakespeare’s Henry V.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Wilykit:(Rumpleteazer) – is a very adventurous young lady, she spends most of her time with her twin brother Wilykat. The pair of young thunderians are playful and active. Some ballet and acrobatics.
Cheetara: (Jemima/Grizabella) – Cheetara is a female warrior, ThunderCat who was once in her prime; an iconic hot babe of the 80’s. She is now old and yearns for her youth in her iconic song “Mammaries”.
Jaga the Wise: (Old Deuteronomy) – The Obi-wan of cats, the ghost advisor who sacrificed himself for the survival of the cats. An old man cat in sparkly underwear.
