About CYPT
Since 1992 Calgary Young People’s Theatre has specialized in providing performance and creation opportunities for youth age 4-18, through our summer drama camps, year-round drama classes, mainstage productions, and new play development programs.
About Our Camps
Our camps for ages 4-18 are high-energy, fun and playful opportunities for youth interested in theatrical performance to build on basic drama skills, to specialize in advanced training, and to just have fun! Young people enrolled in our camps will work with a multitude of instructors to explore various aspects of performance, including improvisation, voice, movement, characterization, scene development, audition technique, stage combat and much more. Instructors teach morning workshops based on their individual strengths, so we also welcome our team to propose new workshops that they are excited to explore.
Instructors will also work with a group of youth in the afternoons to create, write, and rehearse an original play that will be performed on the last day of camp to their family and friends.
CYPT offers a variety of different one-week camps including Half-Day Camp (ages 4 to 6), Full Day Camp (ages 6 to 12), and Teen Specialty Camps (ages 12 to 18), as well as Two Week Camps (ages 10 to 18).
