
Position Summary
Edmonton Opera is seeking the role of Executive Director. This position is great for someone who is looking for a new career within an invigorating and exciting artistic environment.
This is a full-time continuing position reporting to the Artistic Director of Edmonton Opera – Joel Ivany, and is considered the lead of the administrative senior management team. Reporting to this position are the Production and Technical Director, Chief Financial Officer, Director of Marketing and Communications, and Director of Fund Development and Government Relations.
Reporting to the Artistic Director and working under the guidance of the Board, the Executive director is responsible for all of the business and administrative functions of Edmonton Opera and that support and enable the realization of the artistic vision of Edmonton Opera. The incumbent creates strategic goals working with directors, that effectively organize all operational functions of the company, including operations, finance and accounting, budgeting, human resources, marketing and community relations, grants and government relations, fundraising, office management and the Board Secretariate.
The ideal candidate will have ten years of management and supervisory experience. An understanding of the elements of artistic production is an important part of this position. Excellent written and oral communications skills are also valued, as is a strong desire to work in a highly collaborative environment.
