Location: Edmonton, AB

The Writers’ Guild of Alberta (WGA) is seeking an individual with strong organizational, communication, and administrative skills for the Program and Operations Coordinator position. The position is a 35 hour a week job with half dedicated to operations and half to program coordination.

Program
The position works closely with the Program and Events Coordinator and Calgary Program Coordinator with the division of duties determined mutually. Currently the position is responsible for the following programs or services: annual WGA conference, youth program liaison, select online programs, rural and remote outreach, Edmonton write nights, and assistance with Edmonton monthly member nights.

Operations
Oversee financial and administrative systems, including budget and forecasting, databases, and revenue strategy. Oversee and prepare operating grant applications.

The ideal candidate should have the following skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • Understanding of financial management and budgeting
  • Background in program management and administration
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Knowledge of the Alberta literary community
  • Organizational, problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for: word processing, databases, spreadsheets, internet

Location: Edmonton, AB

Hours: 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. Periodic evening and weekend hours are required.

Projected Salary Range: $42,000 – $44,000

Vacation: Starting at 10 vacation days per year. The office is closed the days between Christmas and New Year’s Day and all statutory holidays.

Benefits: Group Source benefits after three (3) months.

Probation: This position has a three (3) month probation period.
