A Binaural Radio Play
Written by Ali DeRegt and Camille Pavlenko
Director: Kathryn Smith

boathaus studios (Calgary)

Workshop: October 18 – 21 2021
Recording dates: December 6 – 18* 2021.

*Individual recording sessions will be scheduled during this window of time and will range from a single two-hour block to a full six-hour day, depending on role.

USS ARTEMIS is an immersive audio sci-fi mystery that puts the audience into the shoes of the main character, Captain Lee.
Meant to be a solo listening experience, this binaural radio play is set on the ARTEMIS, an old-model starship, as it returns from a failed rescue mission in a remote outpost in the Circinus Galaxy.

• CURRIE Any gender. Any age.
The ARTEMIS’ pilot. Responsible for the crew’s push to have the Captain woken up. Takes no nonsense and is a little rough around the edges.

• ARTEMIS/NIOBE Any gender. Any age. The omnipresent AI program. Able to blur the lines between gentle, neutral, and sinister.
The same actor will voice both the ARTEMIS and sister ship, the NIOBE. Ideally, the actor will have at least one other dialect in their pocket that they are extremely comfortable with.

• PORTER Any gender. Any age.
The ARTEMIS’ first engineer. A trustworthy confidant.
