
IMPROV is the form of theatre, often comedy, in which most or all of what is unplanned or unscripted: created spontaneously by the performers.
Improvisational techniques, skills and processes are also used outside the context of performing arts. Applied improvisation, is used as an educational tool in classrooms. Walterdale Theatre joins The Grindstone Theatre in presenting
‘Improv for Communications’
This workshop will remind you of Improv’s core skill of active listening and being present in the moment. You will be challenged to focus on yourself and others and to work collaboratively with others to improve your communication skills.
Instructor: Quinn Contini.
Quinn Contini is an improvisor, actor, instructor and emcee. He is an alumnus of Loose Moose Theatre in Calgary, and is currently a senior member of the Rapid Fire Theatre ensemble in Edmonton. Quinn is the Co-Artistic Director of the Canmore International Improv Festival and most recently the Executive Director of Tightrope Impro Theatre in Vancouver. He is an actor, writer, and co-founder of Marv n’ Berry – Sketch Comedy, cast member of Off Book – The Improvised Musical, and has emceed the dog show at the Calgary Stampede. Teaching and performing improvisation have brought Quinn throughout Canada and the United States, around Europe, and to the United Arab Emirates. He has a degree in Entrepreneurship from the University of Alberta, has recently picked up skijoring, and loves spending time in the woods with his partner and their two dogs.
Improv for Communications will be held Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm
For the safety of the participants this online workshop will be offered over the Zoom platform.
