Halloween Shows
The Heritage Park Players will be presenting various interactions and plays around Heritage Park for its 2021 Ghouls’ Night Out Halloween event. Ghouls’ Night Out is a volunteer performance contract. (Note: We will not be looking to cast people in both Halloween and Christmas.)
UNDEAD’S GOT TALENT
“Beetlejuice hosts the afterlife’s most-watched reality TV show, Undead’s Got Talent.”
Play Run Time: 20 minutes

Performed: Outside at the Didsbury Bandstand
CHARACTERS:
VLAD – a vampire, producer of the show, undead — pre-cast
BEETLEJUICE – from the 1980’s movie/cartoon, host of the show, undead — pre-cast
3 CONTESTANTS (or groups of contestants) that are undead versions of popular characters (TBA)
All the “contestants” will develop their own “talent show submission” with talents they have, be it music, dancing, acrobatics, or other skills.
CONJURING A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
“Crystal Ball is connecting with the spirit world and conjures some familiar, and some not so nice, characters.”

SALLY – girl from the movie “Nightmare Before Christmas” (2-person puppet)
OOGIE BOOGIE – the bad guy from the movie “Nightmare Before Christmas”
JACK SKELLINGTON – pumpkin king from the movie “Nightmare Before Christmas” (2-person puppet)
GHOSTBUSTING
“The Ghostbusters are trying to capture spectres at Heritage Park, but things go awry when the Dark Lady appears.”

“The Addams Family take you on a tour of their home culminating in a family dinner.”

CHARACTERS:
MORTICIA – The mother, traditional but open to new ideas that are inline with her family’s well-being.
COUSIN IT — pre-cast
WEDNESDAY – The daughter, progressive, wants to push the boundaries of traditional thought, handles a sword well.
BERNICE – Pretending to be an aunt. Thieving partners. The leader of the pair.
PAMELA – Pretending to be an aunt. Thieving partners. The more unsure of the two.
STAGE HANDS – One or two people will be needed to help with executing Wednesday’s traps.
RETURN OF THE CAPTAIN
“Jack is reborn through Calypso’s magic only to encounter a Sith Lord who is looking to steal his booty. An epic sword/lightsaber fight to Pirates of the Caribbean style music.”

REHEARSALS:
First Read will be on Sunday, Aug 29 @ 10am-3pm
Rehearsals will begin Saturday, September 11 and will continue until the first performance on Wednesday, October 28.
There will be 1-2 rehearsals a week and actors will only be called as needed.
Rehearsals will consist of evenings (6pm-10pm) and weekends (various times between 10am-10pm) unless an entire cast has daytime availability.
Rehearsals will be held at Heritage Park.
TECH/DRESS/PREVIEWS:

Christmas Show
The Heritage Park Players will be presenting a short play in Heritage Park’s Opera House for its 2021 Once Upon A Christmas event. Once Upon A Christmas is a volunteer performance contract. (Note: We will not be looking to cast people in both Halloween and Christmas.)
DR. BILLARD’s COMBUSTIBLE CHRISTMAS
“Dr. Billard reveals his latest invention on Christmas Eve, but Nurse Feline wants to dispose of him and take all the credit.”
Run time: 25min
Performed: Inside the Canmore Opera House
CHARACTERS:
DR. BILLARD – A kind dentist/pharmacist, the hero, a duck
COOK FRANKFURTER – An inspired French cook looking for a special ingredient, a pig
CHIP – A young assistant to Frank, a chipmunk
NURSE FELINE – A slighted nurse aspiring to be a doctor, the villain, a cat
The show will be set in the Edwardian Times (1910). To make it more fantastical, they will be personified 2-legged versions of Edwardian animal characters.

REHEARSALS:

Rehearsals will begin in September with 1-2 rehearsals a week ramping up in November with 2-3 rehearsals a week.
Rehearsals will be evenings and weekends. Rehearsals will be held at Heritage Park.

There will be 4-5 performances a day in the Canmore Opera House.
Call time will be 10am.
Performers will be released after the last performance of the day (around 4pm-4:30pm).

There will be two casts. Persons submitting must be available for either all Saturday or Sunday performance dates. No exception. Dec 17 & Dec 20-22 performance dates will be made up of whoever is available for those performances between the two casts.
