
Do you dream of a career in the performing arts? The Acting and Musical Theatre Intensive is a 300 hour full time program that is licensed by Alberta Advanced Education Private Career Colleges (the ONLY ACTING PROGRAM IN ALBERTA )
Students attend classes Monday-Friday all day from September to May taking classes that include acting for screen and stage, movement, voice and speech and more. There are two projects during the year which include a cabaret in December as well as the final project which is the creation of a pilot web series. The classes are taught as if the students are part of a select company, creating, learning, developing the skills to give them a competitive advantage as they launch their careers in the acting world.
The Artistic Director of the AMTI program is Ruth Alexander. She has taught and performed all over Europe and since moving to Edmonton with her talented husband Max Rubin (who is a director) has been active at the Citadel theatre as well as numerous other projects.
Ruth and her team of creative professionals understand what it takes to carve out a career in the performing arts, and she is dedicated to sharing that knowledge.
There are many guest instructors throughout the year as well video studio on location providing students with additional opportunities to act on camera.
The AMTI program started in 2019 with a graduating class of 2020. Students from that class have been signed with Characters Acting Agency (the largest and most prestigious in Canada) have acted on Land (2021) and The Secret History of the Wild West (2021). One of the graduates is now acting in Korea, another went on continue her study in the UK and others are auditioning and building their reputations as actors.
The AMTI program was closed for the 2021 season and is now excited to be back with an all new 2021/22 program.
