Set Design Through the Gingerbread House
with Kathryn Smith
From the first sketch to the final product, Kathryn Smith will walk workshop participants through the process of Scenic Design via a virtual process. How do we create the world of our show? How do you communicate with your director and fellow designers? What are some tips and tricks when designing a set on any budget?
In this workshop, we will cover the early design process and work towards a ‘final’ set model. With winter and the holiday season upon us, participants will be invited to use a gingerbread house kit to build their final set model!*
This workshop is open to anyone, regardless of set design background. Whether you’ve worked as a theatre designer for many years, or if you’re just learning what a set designer does, all are welcome.
*Participants will have to provide their own gingerbread houses. If this component is a barrier, folks are welcome to use paper, cardboard or other household items.
Participants will receive a Zoom link for each of the three online classes, Nov 24, 26, and Dec 1 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
