THE CHINOOK SERIES AND THE EXPANSE FESTIVAL
March 25th to April 4th 2021
Each year the Expanse Festival brings together a diverse ensemble of emerging dancers and physical theatre performers to create and perform under the collective title The Lobbyists. The Lobbyist collective works together with Expanse Outreach Coordinator Amber Borotsik to create and perform site specific works both in and around Edmonton (sometimes outside) and in the lobby of the ATB Financial Arts Barns as a part of the Chinook Series.
This year we are seeking one Creative Co-Collaborator to work with Amber Borotsik. This is an opportunity for one on one mentorship in creation, facilitation and project management. The chosen applicant will, among other things, be tasked with the creation and direction of an original, site specific work for an ensemble of emerging performers. Creating in community is a key theme of this project.
Although specifically tailored for emerging creators, this is a paid, part-time position with flexible hours in advance of performance dates. The selected applicant should expect early meetings to begin mid-December and work in earnest to begin January 2021. Festival dates are March 24th through to April 4th, 2021.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- A RESUME
- A PHOTO - this could be a headshot but it doesn’t have to be. A selfie, for example, would also be perfect
- A DOCUMENT OR VIDEO THAT COMMUNICATES:
● Who you are.
● Why you are interested in this creation and mentorship opportunity.
● What you are hungry to learn through a creation and mentorship
opportunity like this.
● What kind of work you like to create.
● Your history of creating new work and working with emerging ensembles.
This document could be in the form of a letter, a video, a blog post or whatever is simple and fun for you to create (and easy for us to read/access/download etc.).
Short listed applicants will be invited to meet with Azimuth Co-Artistic Producers Morgan Yamada and Sue Goberdhan and Expanse Outreach Coordinator Amber Borotsik.
