Call for Expressions of Interest: EAC Equity Committee

As outlined in Connections & Exchanges: A 10-Year Plan To Transform Arts and Heritage In Edmonton, the Edmonton Arts Council (EAC) is committed to building and maintaining a well-funded and equitable arts community with increased and expanded access to arts and cultural activities for all Edmontonians.

The EAC established an Equity Committee in 2013 to advise our Board of Directors and make recommendations on policies, programs and practices to advance equity, cultural diversity, access and inclusion for artists and arts organizations. Members of the committee gather to deliberate, discuss and learn from each other about relevant topics, issues and subjects affecting equity and inclusion in Edmonton’s arts ecology. Committee members are expected to strengthen the EAC Board’s long-term strategic commitment to further equity and inclusion for artists and organizations in our city.

The Equity Committee is looking to add new voices to our group, as we continue the work of developing internal expertise and wish to hear from a diverse range of ages, creative practices and points of view.

Want to know more?

  • An ideal candidate will be a critical, creative, and collaborative thinker who wants to contribute to the EAC’s implementation of Connections & Exchanges. Candidates should also be committed to advancing equity and inclusion in Edmonton’s arts and culture sector.
  • The Equity Committee meets three to four times per year.
  • Members are asked to commit to a two-year term with the option to renew.
  • Meetings are currently being held virtually due to public health advisories. We look forward to in-person meetings when possible.
