WALTERDALE THEATRE ASSOCIATES
Position: Graphic Designer
Walterdale Theatre is one of the longest-running amateur theatres in Western Canada, and presents engaging and provocative theatre from our home base in Old Strathcona in Edmonton. Walterdale uses volunteers for all creative, production, and show running positions, and provides opportunities for volunteers to learn about all aspects of theatre production.
Walterdale is currently in the planning stages for 2021 programming. A committee of engaged and experienced members are working on safety and sanitation protocols to ensure that a reduced audience can enjoy and experience the plays we’re able to present.
As part of that planning process, Walterdale is looking for a graphic designer to help us develop the visual elements for our marketing. Duties would include, but not limited to:
- Familiarizing yourself with the scripts for three potential shows
- Converting the themes from each show into a visual design which ties into a larger look for the theatre as a whole
- Designing with an eye to scalability and flexibility to adapt to different sizes and media.
The graphic designer will work closely with the Artistic Director and the Co-Directors of Publicity.
This is a volunteer position, but offers an excellent opportunity for an emerging or mid-career graphic designer to build their portfolio and learn how to work within an arts organization.
Work on the 2021 season will commence by the end of September. Interested applicants can contact our Artistic Director, Monica Roberts, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
