The Pumphouse Theatre is excited to be announcing its new Fall semester of drama classes.

Students aged 6 to 17 are encouraged to check out all of the available fun evening, weekend, and new weekday homeschool classes running from late September to early December. For our younger students, Pumphouse is excited to be bringing new weekday Preschool classes for ages 3 to 5. The descriptions of each class can be found below.

Playful Drama | Ages 6-8
@ The Pumphouse Theatre
Monday 4:30pm-5:30pm; September 28 – December 7, 2020 (No class October 12)
Fee $125
Max: 8
This course is a great introduction to the drama basics, and covers a variety of topics including: story-telling, character, sharing, movement, and theatre games. This is a wonderful way to help your child explore their imagination, learn new skills, and have fun! No experience required!

Creation in Motion | Ages 9-12
@ The Pumphouse Theatre
Sundays 10:00am-12:00pm; September 27 – December 6, 2020 (No class October 11)
Fee $250
Max: 12
Explore storytelling and harness imagination through physicality. Creation in Motion will encourage creative expression through movement, basic choreography, mime, balance, staging, and mask. Students will learn about teamwork, gain self-confidence, and be physically active, all within a safe and engaging environment. No previous experience is required!

Theatre Arts Exploration | Ages 9 – 12

Saturdays 10:00am-12:00pm; September 26 – December 5, 2020 (No class October 10)
Class Fee: $250
Max: 12
This course is an all-inclusive exploration of the theatre arts. Students will be encouraged to discover a variety of dramatic techniques such as character creation, improvisation, movement, Shakespeare, scene study, and more! Have a blast creating and performing an original final presentation for friends and family. No previous experience required!

Improv for Teens | Ages 13-17

Monday 6:00pm-8:00pm; September 28 – December 8, 2020 (No class October 12)
Class Fee: $325 ($300 Discounted)
Max: 12
Improv is a great way to have fun and explore while bolstering creativity, adaptability, team work, and confidence. This course includes lessons in theatresports, character development, story-telling, and many favourite improvisation games. Be inspired to think outside the box, learn something new, and have fun! No previous experience is required!

Storytelling | Ages 3-5

Tuesdays 10:00am-11:00am; September 29 – December 1, 2020
Fee $125
Max: 8
This course is a great introduction to the storytelling. We will cover a variety of topics including: reading time, sharing, movement, and theatre games and songs. This is a wonderful way to help your toddler explore their imagination, learn new skills, and have fun!

Intro to Drama | Ages 6-8

Tuesdays 1:00pm-2:00pm; September 29 – December 1, 2020
Fee $125

This course is designed to give young performers a deeper understanding into the world of Shakespeare. Using one play of his famous plays as a study guide, students will learn about the famous bard the way it should be – through performance!

Each class is 10 weeks in length and take place at the Pumphouse Theatre (2140 Pumphouse Theatre SW) unless otherwise specified. Early bird (register before September 4th) and multi-child (from the same immediate family) discounts are available.
