About Mieko: Mieko works as an actor, writer, director and dramaturg. She splits her time between her work as Artistic Director of Concrete Theatre, a professional theatre for young audiences company, Associate Artist at the Citadel and a freelance theatre artist. Her plays The Red Priest, The Blue Light, The Dada Play, Nisei Blue, I Am For You, Consent, and The Silver Arrow are produced across Canada and internationally and have been recognized with the Carol Bolt Prize, two Betty Awards and a Governor General’s Award nomination as well as translated into six languages. Her new play Burning Mom will premiere at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre in Winnipeg in 2021.
