About Aaron Coates
Aaron is an actor, writer, director, and teacher. He studied acting at Mount Royal College in Calgary and at École Philippe Gaulier in Paris. He has written for theatre and opera, as well as creating devised work with actors, singers, and students. Notable projects include: writing and directing The End of the Rope, the story of the last man hanged in Alberta, which toured throughout Alberta and was shortlisted for the Writers Guild of Alberta Award for Drama; co-librettist on Annie Davidson, a new opera about the founder of Calgary’s Public Library; and nine seasons directing Dirty Laundry: Calgary’s Live Improvised Soap Opera. He is a longtime faculty member of Company of Rogues Actors’ Studio in Calgary, where he teaches movement and acting.
