Theatre BSMT is seeking applications from Calgary based artists and creator groups for an exciting horror project entitled Bonnidale. With the generous support of the Rosza Foundation, Calgary Arts Development and The City of Calgary, we are looking for creators who are interested in creating horror that is accessible digitally and want to try exploring the genre in unique ways.
Description of Bonnidale
In April of 2020, after a series of increasingly mysterious and unsettling video uploads, YouTube channel RileysReactions abruptly stopped posting content. Whispers of what happened to Riley and the strange videos they were investigating have begun to surface online, and they all connect to a place that doesn’t seem to exist: a place called Bonnidale. While no one knows exactly where or what Bonnidale could be, most advise against seeking out it’s origins. Just as it seems like no answers will come, a new video blog claims to have stumbled upon the mystery. With each entry, it starts to become clear that Riley was not the only one looking for Bonnidale, and that it’s reach stretches farther than anyone could ever imagine.
Interested applicants/groups are encouraged to send their submissions to submissions@theatrebsmt.ca by 11:59PM, July 24 with the heading BONNIDALE. Application packages should include a description outlining your interest in working with Theatre BSMT on the project and a short biography of artist(s) submitting, including a brief overview of filming experience (no experience necessary, we’re just curious!). Any questions about submissions or the project can be sent to info@theatrebsmt.ca.
Theatre BSMT welcomes submissions from artists of all backgrounds including, but not limited to, BIPOC creators, newcomer and immigrant persons, Two-Spirit, LGBTQ+, gender non-binary persons and persons with disabilities.
