Stuck in the house? It’s the perfect time to learn something new or brush up on those skills. Register for Grindstone Theatre’s online classes. Try Sketch Writing, Burlesque, Scene Study and Stand Up from the comfort of home!

Since we can’t meet in person we have adapted our classes to continue offering engaging and high-quality programs – virtually. Our live, 8-week classes will be held over videoconference so… just because we’re in Edmonton doesn’t mean you have to be.

BURLESQUE 1 with LeTabby Lexington
Saturdays, 11:30am-1:30pm
Want to give burlesque a try, but never done anything like it before? This class is for you! Let LeTabby Lexington teach you all the basics.

BURLESQUE 2 with LeTabby Lexington
Saturdays, 1:45-3:45pm
Want to advance as a burlesque performer? You’ve learned the basics, now what? Join LeTabby Lexington for this online class and work on developing solos and fine-tune skills to push your performances to the next level.

CONTEMPORARY SCENE STUDY with Candace Berlinguette
Wednesdays, 8:00-10:00pm
Expand your script analysis toolbox and dive more deeply into the world of a play. Students will learn how to apply the context of the play and the back-story of the characters to two-person scenes.

SKETCH WRITING 1 with Ellie Heath
Mondays, 5:30-7:30pm
Sketch writing online is going to be a bold new creative adventure. Meet new people and challenge yourself creatively all while learning the fundamentals of writing hilarious sketch comedy. Students will learn to generate ideas and structure them into a final sketch.

SKETCH WRITING 2 with Mike Robertson
Sundays, 4:15-6:15pm
Crack sketch comedy open and feast on its gooey innards! Together you’ll dive deep into the theory of sketch comedy creating sketches in a variety of styles, further delving into character, premise and game.

STAND UP with Dan Taylor
Tuesdays, 5:30-7:30pm
Learn the basic structure of a short joke, how it works, and how you can write your own. Next, you’ll learn how that very same structure is applied to long-form jokes and comedic storytelling.
