In March and April, join Jamie Cavanagh at Grindstone Theatre for four different acting and improv workshops: Acting for Improvisors, Theatre School Audition, Improv for Actors, and Advanced Improv Workout.


JAMIE CAVANAGH is a multi-disciplinary actor/comedian, writer/director/producer, and instructor/coach. He has performed and collaborated top tier international talent in cities all over the world including London UK, New York NY, Chicago IL, Atlanta GA, Toronto ON, and all over his native country of Canada.

March 16 and 23 from 7-10pm
Have experience as an improvisor/comedian but little-to-no experience with the techniques of acting? Get caught up with this class, which gives you a crash course in scriptwork, audition preparation, and industry advice. Prerequisite: At least some experience/training as an improvisor. Come with contemporary monologue prepared.

March 30 and April 6 from 7-10pm
Are you planning to audition for a post-secondary theatre school in the next 2 years? This workshop serves as an audition preparation masterclass, as well as a crash course on concepts and techniques taught in conservatory training programs. Prerequisite: Must come with two contrasting monologues prepared (1 contemporary, 1 classical).

April 20 from 7-10pm
Have experience as an actor/performer but little-to-no experience improvising? This improv class focuses on the fundamentals of Improvisation: Listening, Accepting, Impulse, Trust, Offers, Group Mind, Narrative Basics, and Character Basics. Through the use of theatre games and exercises, this class will build confidence in both new and seasoned performers. Prerequisite: At least some experience/training as an actor.

April 27 from 7-10pm
Are you an experienced improvisor looking for another opportunity to sharpen your skills? This improv class focuses on drills and exercises meant to test your improv abilities and expand your potential. Prerequisite: Intermediate and Advanced Improvisors only.
