Alberta Playwrights’ Network, in association with Theatre Alberta, is excited to announce that the 54th Alberta Playwriting Competition is officially open and accepting submissions. 

One of the longest-running playwriting competitions in Canada, the Alberta Playwriting Competition recognizes the most outstanding unproduced play by an Alberta-based playwright. The Grand Prize winner will receive $5000 and a potential workshop/reading of their play. A Novitiate Prize may also be awarded at the jury’s discretion in recognition of the work of an unproduced playwright.

This competition is open to all Albertan playwrights whose primary residence has been Alberta for at least one year immediately prior to the submission deadline.

Interested playwrights will have until 11:59 pm MST on MARCH 31, 2020 to submit their work.
