PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION
A musical comedy set in 1966 in Edmonton.
In the heyday of the Supper Club era, “Mitzi’s” is the pre-eminent club in Edmonton, owned and run by the powerful force that is Mitzi Dupar. With her headline entertainer and beloved Jack Hayden, her tightly wound manager Numbers, her sly and charming bartender Mitch, “Mitzi’s” is the toast of the town. However, things have started to slow down at “Mitzi’s”. They need to bring in some new attractions, which might include some new talent…and maybe even some redecorations.
“Everybody Goes to Mitzi’s is a musical comedy that is all about us: our doubts, our dreams, our secret fears that if we were any good we’d be someplace else.”
ROLES TO BE CAST
JACK HAYDEN – Male 25-30 years old (Tenor – F2 to A4 )
Jack is the headliner at “Mitzi’s” and Mitzi Dupar’s . He is confident, smooth, and the musical star of “Mitzi’s”. He is a perfect match for Mitzi Dupar’s wit and charms. Deep down he dreams of singing in Vegas and performing in his own show there. A tenor with a twist of Dean Martin.
TIPPI LALA – Female 19-26 years old (Soprano with strong mix & strong legit – G3 to F5)
Tippi is the newest vocalist hired for the Supper Club ‘Mitzi’s’. Flirtatious and naively confident, Tippi is used to people admiring her and getting what she wants. She sets her sights on Jack, the leader of the band and Mitzi’s fiancé. A strong comedic role, with a simply sweet delivery of reasonably conceited statements. Despite her naivety, her talent and charm enthral “Mitzi’s” audiences and show her to be a star.
