We are thrilled to announce that students attending Artstrek 2020 will explore the action-packed contemporary comedy Shakespeare In Love. In the year 1593 an up-an-coming young writer named Will Shakespeare is struggling to complete his next play, Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate’s Daughter. When a mysterious actor appears to audition for the play, Will is intrigued. His search for the actor’s true identity leads him down an adventurous and farcical path that inspires one of his greatest works. Shakespeare In Love is a fast-paced ensemble piece full of dynamic characters. Swordplay, romance, mystery, and tragedy are all part of the mix – but will there be a dog in the show?
Adapted by Lee Hall from Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman’s Academy Award winning screenplay, Shakespeare In Love* is a smart, funny, and imaginative look at the early career of the famous playwright and poet.
The summer of 2020 marks Artstrek’s 60th anniversary! From its beginning as the ‘Olds Drama Seminar’ in 1960, Artstrek has grown into one of the most renowned and respected theatre training schools for teens in the country.
