Job (Edmonton): Directing Internships at the Citadel Theatre

 

The Citadel is proud of its history of training and mentorship. We are pleased to be able to offer five Mainstage directing internships in the 2020/21 season.

Five APPRENTICE DIRECTOR positions are available, one for each of the following shows:

ELVIS: THE MUSICAL

Rehearsal Dates: June 23 – July 23, 2020

NETWORK
By Lee Hall
Director: Daryl Cloran
Rehearsal Dates: August 18-September 17, 2020

PUMP UP THE VOLUME

Director: Dave Solomon
Rehearsal Dates: October 6 – November 12, 2020

JANE EYRE

Rehearsal Dates: February 9 – March 11, 2021

9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL

Rehearsal Dates: March 16 – April 15, 2021

Directing Interns are theatre professionals with post-secondary training and at least two years’ experience. The program will include:

  1. Shadowing the director at all rehearsals and technical rehearsals.
  2. Shadowing the director at design and production meetings as available.
  3. Supporting the director as the project requires.
  4. Throughout the year being invited to group meetings with senior Citadel staff members (Producer, Marketing, etc.) to learn about the company’s operations.
  5. Meeting with the directors of other productions in the season to learn about their process.

Assistant Directors will receive an honorarium of $2000. At this time, we are only accepting applications from Edmonton-based artists. We encourage applications from artists of diverse backgrounds.

2. The show(s) of interest to you, and a brief description as to why you are drawn to them at this stage in your career.
3. A one-minute video introducing yourself and what you hope to gain from this internship.
